Mark O’Neill Damar Healthcare Ltd

Lindsey’s Story

On 5th February 2021, I sadly lost my Dad,

Mark O’Neill, to Covid-19. He was 56 years old, a loving husband, supportive Dad to myself and my Brother, had his own healthcare business which he was passionate about, and 3 dogs whom he loved to share the sofa with every evening (Mum and I used to squeeze

in beside them!) He was the most gentle and caring man I have ever known, and will forever be remembered as a kind person by his family, friends, colleagues, fishing buddies and anybody else who knew him.

He was my Dad, boss, therapist, comedy sidekick, makeshift car mechanic when my tyres needed pumping up, counsellor when I needed advice, and my best friend in the entire world.

I have set a summer challenge throughout June, July and August to raise money for the Intensive Care Unit at Rotherham Hospital as I cannot thank them enough for the wonderful care and compassion they displayed towards my Dad when treating him during his time

in the hospital. They are real life superheroes and the extent of their bravery, resilience and empathy cannot be put into words, they are just extraordinary people. I cannot imagine the emotional, physical and mental strain that the ICU staff must cope with

on a daily basis, especially during this pandemic. They worked tirelessly. Not only did they take care of my Dad, but they also looked after my Mum, Brother and I.

My Dad loved trips to London with my Mum, and they had a special spot in Trafalgar Square that they visited every time. He also loved Brixham

and planned to retire down by the beach. So, my challenge is to walk 362 miles across the 3 months as this is the total number of miles it is to travel from Rotherham Hospital, to Trafalgar Square and then onto Brixham Harbour!

Dad and I were always talking about how much we wanted to get into fitness and every week we would speak about our plans to diet and get to the gym – but this conversation was swiftly followed by a bar of Dairy Milk and a “ha ha never mind, try again next week”.

So in memory of my Dad and the promises we made to each other, I am taking on this challenge.

Any donations would be hugely appreciated, and anyone wanting to join me for walks, please get in touch (following covid rules)!

Miss you Dad, we love you so much x
